Firefox 3.5 and Affixa

image There have been a few things that have had to be redesigned to work with Firefox 3.5 (which is currently in beta).

The biggest rewrite so far has been how Affixa takes you to your draft message after doing its thing. The Affixa Login Handler extension was updated about a month ago to make it ready for the release of 3.5.

Unfortunately, there’s one feature that will be disappearing with the release of Firefox 3.5: the option to log in via your web browser, rather than giving your details to Affixa. This is because there isn’t a way this can work from 3.5 onwards (as far as I can see). From 3.5 onwards, Firefox places an exclusive lock on its cookie database when Firefox is running. The end result is that Affixa can no longer read the database, and so can’t log you in using your web browser.

You have my word that I’ll try to find a way to reintroduce this feature in the future if I possibly can.

Affixa now available!

Just a quick post for now to announce that Affixa is now available from www.affixa.com !

Those who contributed to the beta testing, those who have donated and those who have purchased gAttach! or yAttach! will be receiving free lifetime subscription codes for Affixa over the weekend.

Thanks to everyone who has made this possible, and enjoy the new software!!

I guess I’ll need to change the header image on the blog now, eh..?

Affixa… almost there!

If you’re a follower of this blog, you’ll know that Affixa was meant to be going live on January 19. Obviously this hasn’t happened, though not because of the readiness of the software. It’s basically taking longer than expected to get the business side of things ready for launch.

We’re literally waiting on one final thing to drop into place, then we’ll be all systems go.

Watch this space!
